Great cabin, great view, and Terri and Mary are fantastic. Five stars are not enough.
We are a family of four with five and seven year old little girls. Elk, mule deer, cows, geese, and ducks were our neighbors. Endless mountains, lands and a pond was the view from our window. Mary gave my girls the ranch experience with feeding chickens and collecting their eggs which they will never forget. It was easy to make ourselves at home as everything we could possibly need was already there! Several hot springs are nearby, as well as cave tours, alpine slide, tram rides and more. If you need to unplug, this is the place for you! We came to unwind, relax, take in some fresh air and have some quality family time which we accomplished!
Beautiful accommodations, Super hosts!
We loved our time on the ranch. Perfect accommodations for our family of 4. The kitchen had everything we could need including some staple spices, etc for our meals. There was so much room to roam and so much to see. Mary and Terry were very friendly and helpful and we LOVED having Foxy (the dog) keep us company. Would recommend this to anyone looking for some down time away from the hustle and bustle. We especially loved all of the wildlife!
Thank you for your hospitality Mary and Terry! Staying at your ranch always relaxing and great experience!
Mary and Terry
Mary and Terry make you feel right at home! Close to town for the necessities but up the valley for peace and quiet! Thanks for a great stay! Stan and Karen
Peaceful and beautiful.
We were a gang of 5 friends who were looking for a different sort of accommodation experience rather than a usual hotel stay during our trip in Colorado. And we found this wonderful cabin in homeaway website and luckily it was available on our travel dates. Unfortunately, we were more than a bit late to arrive on our first day, but really thankful to Mary and Terry who were such a wonderful hosts and they did make sure the beds were all put up so that we could crash in as soon as we arrived. And for the breakfast, we were allowed to borrow some of the freshly laid chicken eggs. Just behind the cabin, you can see the goats grazing in a lush green meadow, elks in the next paddocks and also cattle if you follow a little bit further up the road. The network connectivity might be a little less as expected, as this is a cabin located slightly away from the main roads. But who doesn’t want to stay away from the hustle of the world once in a while. We loved it and am glad we made this choice. The cabin was a comfy, old style wooden built one and has all the required amenities for a comfortable stay. Last but not the least, the pet dog of Mary and Terry – Foxy, she was so friendly that she accompanied me for a little hike towards the small hill right opposite the cabin. 🙂 . We hope to visit on a next time , maybe during the fall season. Will wait and see. 😉
Perfect getaway with pets!
We really enjoyed our stay, though it was cut short due to a change in our schedules. Mary is a lovely host! The cabin is well equipped and cozy – bring some of your own books, games, and non-electronics and digital detox for a weekend! The internet was spotty and slow at best. We would recommend planning on being disconnected – it’s such a nice place to visit, why ruin it with your cell phone. 🙂
Lovely Summer Stay!
Mr. and Mrs. Porter were wonderful hosts and the cabin itself was a perfect combination of rustic and having all amenities for a very pleasant stay. The kitchen and bathrooms were well stocked and linens/pillows/bed/couch/cots very comfortable. The area is beautiful with wildlife all around and the family enjoyed their trail ride with Mrs. Porter. We also had an issue (on our part) that Mr. and Mrs. Porter were very gracious with and took time out of their busy days to visit with us to amicably resolve it. They are wonderful people! One minor recommendation: it would be great to have a screen door on the cabin to let the morning sunshine and the cool evening breezes in without the bugs. =-) Great hosts, cabin, and location — we hope to return!
My family stayed for week and had a blast. The cabin was perfect for our family of 6. Easy access to Rifle Falls, Glenwood Springs, and a grocery store. Mary was very sweet.
